RECOVERED! 5 Paintings by Award-Winning British Artist Emily Gillbanks

We have a sore spot for emerging young artists who are often taken advantage of by seasoned and slick art dealers. Super-talented British artist, Emily Gillbanks, consigned 5 artworks for exhibition and sale with a well-established European-based art dealer. Following the exhibition, the 5 artworks were, by contract, supposed to be returned to the artist at the expense of the dealer. The dealer must have loved the artist’s work so much because she dragged her feet for months about returning (and paying for) the shipment. We intervened and managed to turn up the temperature a bit until the artworks were recovered. Message to the trade: don’t mess with young artists or we’re going to come after you.
