This drawing was stolen from the Richard Gray Gallery in Chicago in 1976 and reported to the FBI. It was consigned for sale at Sotheby’s in 2018 by an innocent purchaser who acquired the work on the secondary market. Art Recovery International was appointed by the Insurer, who paid out on the work,
to claim title to the drawing. A confidential settlement was negotiated between the
parties and the drawing was sold with the proceeds returned to Underwriters.
