Nazi Looted Art Claim Settled Allowing Degas Painting to Sell
Mar 23, 2010
This case involved three sets of lawyers and several UK based art dealers all looking to earn a commission from the £18M sale.
One billionaire art collector was selling the Degas to another billionaire art collector when a Nazi-looted art claim out of Switzerland threatened to upend the sale.
Christopher A. Marinello was brought in to resolve the dispute so that the sale could go through. This was accomplished in March of 2010 in a comprehensive settlement agreement with confidentiality provisions so complex that we can’t even show you an image of the painting.
