This Willem de Kooning sculpture Untitled #5, 1969 was stolen in 1983 from an exhibition at the New York Road Runners Club in New York City. The sculpture had been consigned to a gallerist by the de Kooning studio itself.
In March 2018, the work was located when being offered for sale through an innocent purchaser at a major NYC auction house. Chris Marinello and the attorney for the possessor resolved the title dispute pursuant to a confidential settlement agreement in April 2018.
