Jeunesse, Marie Laurencin
April 13, 2016
The heirs of Paul Rosenberg identified and claimed the above referenced work as having been looted from the private collection of Paul Rosenberg (1881-1959) the French art dealer of Jewish descent, since it was spoliated as a result of Nazi persecution from Rosenberg’s home and gallery premises at 21 Rue de la Boétie in Paris between 1940-1942.
The work had been consigned for sale in 2016 at a major US auction house by the estate of a US based collector. Art Recovery International was appointed to prepare the necessary claim documentation and recover the work on behalf of the heirs. After a few months of negotiation, an amicable and confidential settlement was reached and the Laurencin was restituted to the Rosenberg family unconditionally.
