Stolen in 1975 from the heirs of the sitter, John Apthorp, Christopher Marinello recovered the painting with the aid of the Concord, Massachusetts Police Department. The painting was returned to the victim’s family in 2010 after they reimbursed their insurance company pursuant to the terms of the original policy.
