A Modern 18ct White Gold Diamond Pendant, by Theo Fennell
In 2018, a UK Baron and Baroness were returning from their county estate to their house in London.
Their car was parked outside the London home with valuables that were to be stored in their safe inside. Of course, thieves got to the car before the packages were moved to the house and about £100,000 of jewellery was stolen. The victims were paid out by their insurer who appointed Chris Marinello of Art Recovery International to handle the asset recovery.
This Theo Fennell pendant was spotted at a UK provincial auction house in 2020. The sale was halted by ARI who were introduced to the Consignor who happened to be the Baroness herself. Her husband had passed away and she was selling some of the jewellery from her collection.
It seems that this pendent should not have been included in the schedule of stolen items presented to the Insurer and that the matter needed to be sorted straightaway.“Short of cash”, the Baroness agreed to release the pendent to the Insurer so that it could be sold and the proceeds returned to the company. You’d be surprised how often this happens…
