Benton Drawing Recovered at Heritage Auctions 14 Years After Theft

This Benton drawing was spotted by the theft victim, a Chicago Art gallery who suffered a theft in 1996.
The victim contacted their insurer who reached out to Chris Marinello to recover the work. The drawing was being offered for sale in 2010 at Heritage Auctions in Texas. Marinello negotiated a release from the consignor and the work was offered back to the victim who declined to reimburse the insurer. The drawing was re-consigned to Heritage for sale on behalf of underwriters in 2011.
